Trail Covenant Established at Greentree Farm Development

On September 3, 2015, the Montgomery County Planning Board unanimously approved the record plats for Greentree Farm. The plats included a covenant establishing a natural surface equestrian trail following the property line from an entrance on Whites Store Road to Route 109 (Beallsville Road). Despite strong opposition by EPIC, and written comments and testimony by equestrians, the Board chose to ignore its 2010 resolution establishing an easement granted to EPIC and instead approved a covenant (attached) as described above and in EPIC’s August 2015 release and action alert. Those plats have since been recorded.  According to the language in the covenant routine maintenance by individual users is permitted. Questions remain concerning those portions of the “trail” that are impassable or unsafe (mostly from Peachtree Road to 109).  There is no trail head or parking at either end but the trail is accessible from Two Sisters Farm.
